Texas to Virginia
...between winter storms

Cross Country Road Trip

As we travelled across the country Sage had some fun experiences.  She waved her paw at the giant statue of Sam Houston, had a snack sitting by the flags of the Texas Corrections Officer memorial in Huntsville, and then left her mark on the lawn of the Texas Prison Museum.  We drove to north Texas and saw some good friends.  We played at the Fort Woof dog park then went for a stroll around Lake Worth.  After visiting with good friends we high-tailed it through Dallas to try to beat another winter storm that was headed in our path.  We left our beloved Texas and headed into Arkansas, stopping to play for a bit in Little Rock.  After driving around Memphis and heading into Missouri, we headed north along the Missouri-Kentucky border.  I was such a good girl in the car mom even got me my very own hamburger from the drive-thru! The workers thought I was so cute they gave me an extra patty in my burger!  I gobbled it up and was ready to press on!  We saw a pretty sunrise over the fields of Kentucky and headed across Illinois toward Indiana.  A fun stop in Indiana allowed me to meet a good friend mom grew up with and then we were off to Ohio.  Ohio was so much fun!  We stayed on the farm where mom’s friend lives and I had a blast!  There were two new doggie friends I met there–shout out to Pete and Hank–woof woof!  We got to the Ohio farm when it was getting dark and after meeting Pete and Hank, they put glow-in-the-dark collars on us and let us run free through the fields!  We looked like doggie ghosts as we ran around all the way to the tree line.  After feasting on some yummy steaks we fell asleep by the fire.  I ate so good on this trip!  When we woke up in the morning it was cold and there was more snow and we even saw a few deer along the tree line as we started our driving again.  This should have been an easy day of driving but the storm and ice started coming through and mom had a rough time driving through the frozen mountains.  We pushed through and made it to Maryland where we slept so well after warming up at a comfy hotel.  One more day of driving and we made it to Virginia.  I got to see the Potomac River and the Washington Monument as we were getting into the DMV area….and then suddenly the Pentagon was right next to us!  We made it safely to Virginia and we are looking forward to all the fun that is to come here.
