The DMV (DC-Maryland-Virginia area) has so much history and natural places to explore. As the weather starts to warm up, we jumped in the car and drove about 25 minutes to Lake Burke. This was the first hike mom took me on and I LOVED it! It was fun being out in the crisp air with the trees and the birds. My new doggie friends Ranger and Annabelle met us there for a hiking play date by the lake. As we started our hike, I played on the docks and stared down some of the geese that were swimming near the area. At one point they swam close to me and after a stern woof emerged from my inner-alpha dog, they suddenly raised up out of water and spread their beautiful wings as they flew away. Mom was ready with her camera and was able to snap some awesome shots of the moment. After playing on the docks, we hiked about 5 miles along the lake loop trail. Ranger was a fun buddy to have as he and I trotted along the paths and saw pretty hollows in the trees. Annabelle and I took a few little breaks and played in the water along the shore…which got me excited because I just love sticking my paws in the mud. This hiking stuff was awesome…can’t wait to go on another!
