Richmond Riverfront

Sage went to her first riverfront festival along the James River in May. The Richmond, VA riverfront is full of history and adventure. The pup ventured onto the historical pedestrian bridge that documented the ending events of the Civil War. While on the bridge she put her paws on planks that documented some famous quotes by our former leaders. The remains of the old bridge that was destroyed by fire and the beautiful flow of the river could be seen from the bridge. She was particularly interested in staring at the stand-up paddle boarders maneuvering along the water. Sage wandered around the sections of the riverfront where she poked her nose through the fencing trying to get a better view of the colorful kayaks paddling by. It looks like a kayak adventure might be something she wants to try in the future, although getting her onto the kayak might be an adventure in and of itself and certainly one for another day! She met a bunch of fun fellow festival puppers while walking along the festival booths and gave some puppy kisses along the way. There was a stage set up with fun music playing as a rock climbing boulder dash race ensued on the stage set up. Sage found a comfy spot on the grass and wagged her tail along with the music as she gobbled up some water from her travel bowl. The fun ensued with a doggie jump/splash competition. Sage did not participate in this one, but was fun to watch some of the other pups run off the launch pad and splash into the tank while trying to catch their toy that had been tossed in the air. The splash tank had distance markers that measured the best jump from the dock to the where the dog’s tail landed in the water. Although we did notice that some of the best splashes were from the dogs that didn’t care about distance and instead belly flopped off the edge of the launch pad. Sage ended the evening at a pup-friendly tavern where she charmed other visitors into “lending” her some of their bacon.
